100-year anniversary in the company of Lamborghini
April 28, 2016, the company of Lamborghini celebrates 100-th anniversary of the birth of its founder, renowed Ferruccio Lamborghini. Today, there is no man who doesn’t know the name of this Italian. And it all began with a simple tractor!
Ferruccio was always interested in technologies and started his career in one of the sheds on the farm, molding automotive parts. After World War II, when the conversion of military equipment for the needs of agriculture began to bring benefits, Ferruccio decided to establish his first company – Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A. In 1949, he released the tractor of his own design. As known, the Italian with mechanical habit of mind didn’t stop there. From 1960 he was closely engaged in the development of sports cars. And in 1963 he founded Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. Golden bull on the black background, the famous emblem of Lamborghini, was chosen in honor of the founder, whose zodiac sign was Taurus.
Throughout the whole history of existence, the company of Lamborghini experienced both happy and tough times, and periodically changed hands. Today, Audi AG is the official owner of the company, but in the memory of Ferruccio, Lamborghini hasn’t bypassed such a significant date. The company unveiled its new supercar Lamborghini Centenario LP 770-4, whose name is translated from Italian as “century”.
The exclusive supercar was “promulgated” at the 86th Geneva Motor Show. The model certainly has a limited edition (40 vehicles: 20 coupes and 20 roadsters). All cars are already sold for $ 1.9 million. Weight of Centenario is 1 520 kg (the body is entirely made of carbon fiber). Interior of the car is equipped with a digital dashboard and infotainment system with 10.1-inch touch screen on the central console, providing Internet access and support for Apple CarPlay. New Centenario has a 6.5-liter V12 engine with capacity of 770 CV. Weight/Power ratio: 1.97 kg/CV. The car is gaining 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Acceleration from 0-300 km/h takes 23.5 seconds and top speed – 350 km/h. Stopping distance from 100 km/h to a full stop is 30 meters; from 300 to 0 km/h – 290 meters.
